 OK - we will fix it, The last build I tried before this was 142 (Nov 5th)
 and it worked !!

 Back to build182

 I am booting using LinuxBIOS (not OFW)

 on the serial port the last thing I see is:
 {{{
 sda: assuming drive cache: write through
  sda: sda1
 sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sda
 EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem.
 EXT3-fs: write access will be enabled during recovery.
 kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
 EXT3-fs: recovery complete.
 EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
 }}}
 Then the system loops, the USB key blinks few times,
 pauses for some time and blinks again.

 When I unplug the USB-drive I get
 {{{
 EXT3-fs error (device sda1): ext3_find_entry: reading directory #36433
 offset 1
 EXT3-fs error (device sda1): ext3_find_entry: reading directory #36433
 offset 2
 EXT3-fs error (device sda1): ext3_find_entry: reading directory #36433
 offset 0
 }}}
 Then I take the USB plugs it into a sane system and do
 {{{
 find . -inum  36433  -print
 }}}
 and get
 {{{
 ./etc
 }}}
 So something is alive poking around on /etc

 hope this helps.

 Next I will probably try replacing the firmware with OFW,

 /Peter
