 If you start another application, and etoys is therefore not visible, it
 has two problems:
  1) it still makes sounds (that are very random when you can't see them).
  2) it monopolizes the sound device.  Squeak should release it when it is
 not on top of the stack, so that other applications can use it (at least
 until you use a sound server).  Even then, 1) is still true.

 If, by Friday morning, there is a chance to fix one or both of these in a
 simple, non-invasive way, that would help the usability of the overall
 system greatly.  If not, we'll live with what we have...
