 Can you elaborate on the issue please? How does the backlight affect b&w?

 Isn't this just matter of setting a sane default (color, 1/2) and then
 respect the choice of the user like we are doing? Overriding user choice
 this way sounds bad to me. If I set backlight to 5 I don't want switching
 between b&w and color to change that.
