 Tooltips work fine if the treeview and vim's gtk.socket haven't been added
 to the window, but if they have, the tooltips don't show up for the
 toolbar anymore.

 I've noticed that when they do work, the tooltips always show up in the
 gray area that would be occupied by the treeview and gtksocket.  Thus, I'm
 thinking that those two widgets may be occluding the tooltips somehow.

 Very strange, at any rate.
