 I've spent some time on this today.  I see the junk clearly in the camera
 activity, but it is not there when I display camera output with mplayer.
 That leads me to suspect that the problem might just be elsewhere.  Any
 chance that somebody who knows gstreamer and the camera activity better
 could have a look at that side of the picture?
