New description:

When I start the camera activity, the image is displayed just fine except
for the top 10-20 pixel rows. These rows all have the same (changing)
colour. I have done extensive tests to find out how the colour of the
erratic rows is determined. The colour of these strange upper rows is
exactly the colour of the pixel at the bottom left corner.
 Camera is in mirror mode.

 Openfirmware CL1 Q2A62 Build 203
 B1-Test Serial PCL10EN64600122

Comment (by hai):

 (still present in build 203)
This is the standard setting of the camera activity. How do I find out if
that is VGA mode? I know that the camera is in mirror mode (behaves like a
 mirror).
