 The kernel being located in the main file system means that
 OFW has to scan the flash to build its view of the file system.

 Then, the kernel has to do it all over again to mount the
 root file system.

 This is taking 10's of seconds; while CaFE as an asic will improve the
 situation in both places, one of these scans is unnecessary.

 Experiments Mitch has made shows he can get Linux executing in 2 seconds.
 There are several proposals of how best to put the kernel
 someplace else to speed booting.
