 Not sure whether the problem is the battery or the charge circuit, but
 suddenly my machine has stopped charging its battery, whether in an on or
 off state, and the battery light has stopped working.  Have we seen such a
 failure before?

 I will swap batteries when I next drop by OLPC and see if that changes
 anything.
