Comment (by warp):

 The problem is that a stylus going down in the middle 1/3rd of the
 touchpad is causing the glide sensor bit to go true, not the pen sensor
 bit.  And while the coordinates given are accurate, they are for the glide
 sensor.

 So we're misdetecting the pen as a finger.
