 So, this seems like a two part task... 1) get a splashscreen going and 2)
 modify the kernel so that black on white is the default for virtual
 consoles (so that we have the correct color scheme when a user CTRL-ALT-
 F1s away from X).

 For the splashscreen we'll need an officially sanctioned image from the
 OLPC offices.  We also need to decide which implementation we're going to
 use.

 Chris suggested uSplash (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/USplash) and
 I've always been a fan of bootsplash (http://bootsplash.org).  Is there a
 clear favorite?  Other contenders?
