I've been thinking about this as well.  Especially for the browse activity with the laptop in ereader mode.  It would be a very nice browsing experience if the direction pad controlled the mouse movement and the buttons could be used for mouse buttons.

Right and left buttons for left and right mouse buttons.

Top and bottom buttons for either page up / down or scroll up / down.
